Bass Lessons

Whether you are inspired by legends like Paul McCartney, John Paul Jones, James Jamerson, Flea, Victor Wooten or songs like “Another One Bites The Dust” or “Pumped Up Kicks”, the bass guitar is a fundamental instrument in music and has also become a stand out piece in the music world.

Bass Guitar is a wonderful instrument to learn on many levels because of how it connects the whole sound of a band and group together. Just listen to any song without the bass, and you’ll immediately know what we mean.

From learning the basics of how to hold down a groove with the drums or learning how to play melodious lines to dance within the chords of a song, learning the bass is an exciting adventure. You will also learn how to maintain your instrument and work with effects and amplifiers.

Our bassists also learn from the get go learn how to interact with other musicians, since their parts are woven directly between the rhythm (drums) and the chords (guitar, piano/keys).

Here are some of the many benefits from learning this instrument:

1. Rhythmic Foundation: Learning bass provides children with a solid rhythmic foundation. They develop a strong sense of timing and groove, which is crucial for playing in a band or ensemble.

2. Improved Coordination: Playing bass requires coordination between both hands to fret notes and pluck strings. This enhances fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination in children.

3. Understanding Harmony: Bassists learn to navigate harmony and chord progressions, contributing to their overall understanding of music theory. This knowledge can be applied to other instruments and musical contexts.

4. Collaboration Skills: Bassists often play a supportive role in bands, collaborating closely with other musicians to create a cohesive sound. Children learn teamwork, communication, and cooperation through ensemble playing.

7. Stress Relief: Playing bass can be a cathartic experience, offering children a way to unwind and alleviate stress. Music has a therapeutic effect, promoting relaxation and emotional well-being.

5. Creative Expression: The bass provides ample opportunities for creative expression. Children can experiment with different playing styles, techniques, and tones to develop their unique musical voice.

6. Boosted Confidence: As children master new songs and techniques on the bass, their confidence grows. Performing in front of others further enhances self-esteem and stage presence.

Our instructors care about your child having a great experience, making new friends, and learning much more beyond the technical aspects of developing their voice. Our lessons seek to cultivate valuable life skills that enrich children's lives both on and off the stage.
